Ouch!  I had thought you were working on the 0.9.8.2 branch:(

Um, I had already said that I believe this is the wrong way to do it-- 
but I would accept it in 0.9.8.2 for expediency.

Normally, it wouldn't really matter, but in this case the issue is so  
basic that it is important for it to be done right.

I'll do the reversion later.
